Sunday Sum Up #5

My first ever pair of glasses! // Healthy lyf yo // No 7 Clarisonic
Treats // Best film // OJ and lemonade (hardcore).
Who says 21 is too old for bubbles at the pub.

So this week has been full of ups and downs.
I'm now two weeks into my new job which I'm loving so far! Its been really nice to have a steady income in again! (which i unfortunately took a bit of advantage of today!). However I've just found out I have to have weekly blood tests to determine what my mystery illness is that's producing my chest pains. I already look like i have track marks all up my arm! I'm trying to be healthier to see if it helps!

Hows everyones week been?? Taking advantage of this fabulous weather I hope!

My Top Five Oscars Looks

Apologises for the lateness of this post! Unfortunately I've been pretty ill recently, so I spent all of yesterday watching Pokemon and Super Mario Bros like I did when I was younger.

I literally don't know anyone who doesn't like awards season, either for the films or the dresses. I'm a major cinephile and I love to judge what people are wearing so its a win win situation for me!

Here are my top five looks-

1. Kate Hudson in Versace
TBH this dress would still look gorgeous without those sleeves.

2. Angelina Jolie in Elie Saab
I've seen this dress on some of the worst dressed lists and I just can't get it! I think she looks stunning!

3. Lupita Nyong'o in Prada
I read somewhere that she picked this colour because it reminded her of Narobi. This girl can get away with wearing any colour (lucky thing!)

4. Cate Blanchett in Armani PrivĂ©
Lets be honest Cate would look stunning if she turned up in a sack.

5. Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen
Again I've seen this dress in some of the worst dressed lists. I'm not sure if I just have bad taste or if they're blind.

And finally some honourable mentions

Portia de Rossi                               Olivia Wilde                                   Sally Hawkins

My least favourite look

What did you think of the Oscars? Did you have a favourite awards season look?

How has your week been? Enjoying the spring like weather?

Friday Fancies #1

Two posts in two days?! This is unknown territory for me!
I know this post isn't earth shatteringly interesting but I always like seeing what other people have been enjoying so I thought I would join in!

Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser- A bblogger staple and something I have come back to after a amicable separation.  I'm not too sure why I even stopped using this in the first place to be honest.
Origins Ginger Rush- I got gifted this after an ahem... large origins order. I used to hate ginger but I've really be warming up to it recently and this body cream smells divine!
See by Chloe- This is one of those perfumes that I always used to douse my scarf in whenever I was near a Debenhams but was always too expensive to buy. However whilst randomly browsing I found somewhere that did it and the body lotion for £25 when its usually £50ish!! Absolute bargain! Link if anyone's intersted
Miss Manga Mascara- I've seen some pretty naff reviews of this but I'm a bit of a fan! I think it gives great volume, especially to the bottom lashes.

And now for the oddest collection of pictures ever...

Rupauls Drag Race- After finding this on Netflix, I have become obsessed with drag queens, contouring and Alyssa Edwards mouth.
Moomins- I recently bought season one and have been enjoying an episode or two with breakfast. Just like when I was a kid, apart from if your were watching the Moomins you knew you were late for school.
Guardians of the Galaxy- The trailer has FINALLY been released. I'm a total Marvel gal so am v. excited for this.
Pushing Daisies- I was heartbroken when this was cancelled, however this week there have been rumours of a film or even a musical!

So what's been floating your boat this week? Excited for the return of Ned the piemaker?

I'm the Absolute Worst

Actual graduate - Swimmy bevs - Our national anthem is just someone farting - Workplace romance is prohibited
Long weekend in Dorset - Staying in London - Actual work during my CELTA - The worst/ best Christmas tree
Started driving lessons - My hero Dwight Schrute - Cut my hair short - Dreaming

I'M SORRRRRRRY.
I literally cannot believe it's been nearly a year since I've updated. Unfortunately, as with all my other ventures, I was either obsessed with blogging or it was completely forgotten about it. But the fire has been re-lit and it is my February resolution (better than January where everyone is in denial and nothing sticks) to not be so shit.
So a little catch up of what has occurred in my life, which I can sum up in two words- A LOT!

Since I last posted I have...
•Graduated from University with a first in psychology
•Moved back home to Suffolk
•Started working at Jimmys farm
•Stopped working at Jimmys farm
•Become obsessed with the Office and managed to watch all nine seasons in a month ( I've now moved on to RuPauls Drag Race)
•Completed a CELTA in teaching english abroad (more on that in another post)
•And I'm about to start work as a carer this monday!

Overall its been an incredibly busy summer- I didn't really get to have a break after graduating as I went straight into working but I'm really content with everything at the moment!

Fingers crossed the next post won't take another year...

Tips For Decorating A Student House

Now thats its coming to the end of the academic year I'm starting to contemplate packing away my room.
I've really thought of this room as my own, not just the bog standard student room, and people always comment on how homely it feels. One problem that I'm sure a lot of you will face- not just students- its the fact that most landlords dont like things to be stuck on walls. So here are my tips to making a home away from home.
1. Pin boards are a godsent.

I know that pinboards are usually used to put things you dont want to loose, but theyre also great to use as alternative walls. I used to have a wall of magazine cuttings when i was younger, so i took my favourite ones and created a collage. It reminds me of home and leaves out the hassle of having to take every thing down.

2. If you've got boarders use them!

My mums friend got me these hearts for my 18th. I really wanted to put them up but had no way of doing it. Although the hangers are a bit obvious i still think its a great addition to a bare wall.

3. Utilise what it already in your room

When first setting up this room (over two years ago now!) i noticed a solitary nail. I bought this star from a craft market (theyre really common in new age shops now) and managed to attach string to it and the nail. These stars are also perfect to put over lamps as the light shines through the paper!

4. Frame it!

If there are any pictures you cant live without, use frames! These two are on my desk where i work and they brighten up my working area without being to distracting. The bee print was from the bontantic gardens in edinburgh and the butterflies are from a car boot.

Hope this helps those of you who are going to be moving into student housing or just have a fussy landlord!

What are your tips to jazz up a room without blutac or nails? What do you think of my ideas??

L'Oreal Paris 3in1 Purifying Micellar Solution

I'm sure that by now everyone and their beauty loving aunts have heard of bioderma. Every beauty blogger seems desperate to get their hands on it, however not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to pop over to France to get it, or spend a small fortune in the minimal amount of shops that do stock it here.

In comes the new Micellar solution from L'Oreal Paris.
Its similar to the Bioderma micellar solution, but at a fraction of the price.
It promises three simple things

And boy does it achieve. I am the laziest person when it comes to taking makeup off a night, but this makes it a breeze!
Literally one small cotton pad is needed for my whole face and eye area!

The only complaint I can find is the smell- but i think i can look past that.
It usually retails at around £5 but when it was on deal when i purchased it for only £2.50 so keep your eyes out!

What do you think about L'Oreal Paris' latest offering? What's your preferred make up removal technique?

Tunesday

I cant believe its been over a month since my last post! I do have an excuse though- im currently finishing up my final year a uni and we all know what that means... dissertation! Hooray.....? It was finally handed in today so blogging shall resume as normal
Now on with the tunes!

1. Star Fucker- Girls just want to have fun

Yes this is a cover of the 80s classic but i love it! And you cant really beat the name starfucker can you?

2. Gabrielle Aplin- Panic Cord

I think this is a cute little song. Plus doesnt the boyfriend in the video look like an absolute catch? His eyes are amazing!

3. New Order- Ceremony

Not a new song i know, but this song just makes me think of summer and being free! I cant wait for this month to be over and for my summer to begin!

4. Hey Champ- Cliche

Not going to lie i heard this song in H&M and had to shazam it! According to the youtube its also been played in Zara and Hollister too so im sure its one of those songs you hear without realising it!

5. Iggy Azeala- Bounce

I know that I've mentioned Iggy before but i just love her so much! Her new song is as catchy as work and look how fabby she looks!

6. David Guetta

Cheese song of the week! Cant beat a bit of Guetta!

How did everyone spend their oddly sunny bank holiday? Anyone else in the same position as me at uni??

Tunesday

Its tunesday again. Hooray!!
This weeks songs dont really have a theme. Most of them are new things I've heard so enjoy!!

1. Snoop Lion & Miley Cyrus- Ashtrays and Heartbreak

Despite this having Hannah Montanna on it, i think this is hella cool. But i think this song is a love/hate as ive seen some pretty scathing reviews!

2. Wake Owl- Wild Country

Heards this the other day on Zane Lowes show when the 1975 were on. Think its perfect music for revision

3. Vampire Weekend- Diane Young

So happy that vampire weekend are back! What makes this song even better is that at easter it was performed by Steve Buscemi whilst the band looked on whilst wearing easter bonnets.

4. Walk Off the Earth- Red Hands

This band is a youtube success story. Most known for their gotye cover this song is good already, but throwing in a massive guitar just makes it better.

5. Fall Out Boy- The Pheonix

I was a MASSIVE FOB fan when i was a teenager. I love the new stuff theyve done. If you like what you hear theyyre actually streaming their new album for free a week before its release! Thanks guys! Its defo worth a listen.

What do you think of this weeks songs? Whats would you add to Tunesday this week?

Tresemme Platinum Strength Range

The new Platinum Strength range from Tresemme promises to visibily repair up to 2 years of damage in just five washes. Im quite lucky in that my hair isn't very dry or damaged, instead its perhaps the opposite in that it's fine and can sometimes be a bit oily but I love deep conditioners so I thought I'd give it a whirl!

Firstly the 'Stay Soft Leave in Conditioner' (left). I was a bit hesitant to like this- I thought a leave in conditioner would weigh my hair down. In fact it was the complete opposite! All you do is put 2-3 pumps of it after washing your hair and then style as normal (hence the leave in part). It made my hair super soft and shiny. At first it did have the tell tale smell of tresemme products but once my hair had dried it had merged with my conditioner and smelled SO good!
Thumbs up from me!

Secondly the 'Deep Conditioning Treatment' (right). This I'm still not too sure about, but im only on two washes so I think I'll have to persevere to see. You use this like any other deep conditioner. It did make my hair very smooth but I'm not sure if theres anything that special about it. Once again it smells like all the other tresemme products which is fine if you like their smell!! I do think this would be more suited to someone with dry hair.
So for now I'm on the fence with this one.

Both retail for £5.69 each at Boots and are currently on offer for 3 for 2.

Have you tried the new Tresemme range? What do you think about it?

NEW FEATURE Tunesday

I thought I would try something a bit different. Instead of each post ending with my song of the day, I thought it might be better to have a regular thing so you can ignore it if you want. Hence the inspiringly named 'Tunesday'.
This weeks songs have a spring like feel to them I think. To me they are perfect to listen to whilst in the sun, yet completely wrapped from head to toe.

1 Sun- Two Door Cinema Club

Although this song is rather old now I cant help but smile when listening to it. I think its the trumpets. Plus the title is perfect.

2. Gilgamesh- Gypsy and the Cat

I love love love Gypsy and the Cat. Whilst I'm not too sure what the title means and I sound like Borat when saying it this song makes me think of an 80s film montage. You know something empowering, or when the boys trying to find the girl.

3. Sunlight- Bag Raiders

Once again with the sun puns. I swear this isnt intentional. I randomly found this song on a playlist i had and fell in love with it. Unfortunately its one of the songs where the chorus makes it. But the video has a monkey in it.

4. Tiptoe- Imagine Dragons

I didnt think I would much care for imagine dragons. To me they were the band who were being used for every advert in the world. However after listening to the album I was pleasantly surprised.

5. Beautiful City of Dreams- Max Burnside Bootleg

Finally todays guilty pleasure (which I totally dont feel guilty about). If you dont listen to any of the others at least give this a chance. Imagine a mashup of what makes you beautiful and city of dreams. Its amazing.

So what do you think? Like any of the songs? Think tunesday should become a regular thing?

Things to look forward to in April

1. The calm before the storm regarding exams
2. Evenings becoming lighter meaning you get more accomplished
3. Hopefully the first signs of spring (I'm not hopeful)
4. My final student loan
5. The new season of Game of Thrones
6. Getting a new camera
7. Planning a holiday
8. My friends farm having loads of lambs
9. Having an excuse to buy loads of stationary for work and then promptly not use any of it
10. Catching up with everybody both here and in Liverpool after Easter

Whilst April is likely going to be really horrible due to the amount of work i need to do, I'm looking at it from an optimistic point of view. How long it'll last i'm not sure!!

What are your plans for April? Anything to look forward to?

My first week home hasnt been too eventful, I've mainly just been working. Yesterday I spent the whole day in the pub- had lunch and then went to go see all my friends who were back. Not going to lie I had to have a nap in between! 20 going on 90.

Happening- Chiddy Bang

Happy Good Friday all!
Hope everyone has taken full advantage of their day off!
Unfortunately i have been stuck in all day. Mum told me earlier that if i cleared out my room today to get it ready for summer then she will let me take full advantage for the 3 for 2 offer on at boots at the moment.
If that isnt motivation I dont know what is!
Here are some of my best bits I've found so far.
Some very cute pictures of me when we lived on the boat. My life jacket is so big i dont think i could move!!

Some A-level revision notes. Crazy to think i used to understand what this meant!

Definitely not getting rid of these two

Managed to throw out 4 of these piles

My DVD collection- these are only the ones i didnt want to take with me!

Found my diary from 2010-
Best two pages
When I thought i had found a grey hair (it was blonde). And the page that solely has George Clooney on it

Its only 2pm and I've already managed to get rid of a whole shelf worth of things!

Boots here we come.....

Song today is from Chiddy Bang. Most famous for Ray Charles, I thought they were a bit of a one (or two) hit wonder, but i found this song the other day and it really made me smile. Perfect for an upbeat spring song.

How to Survive A Six Hour Train Journey

As I have mentioned before, yesterday was the day in which I embarked on the excitement that was a six hour train journey across country to come home for Easter.
Heres my tips for surviving such a trip without getting claustrophobic and being crazy.

1. Buy a lot of train food. Ideally from M&S

2. Eat it all before the train starts to move

3. Put your large suitcase into the large luggage rack. This was supposed to be for the whole carriage. It could fit two cases in and was full before we left.

4. Catch up with the latest tv shows

(image from tumblr)

5. Take one hour to watch a 20 minute showing of New Girl

6.Take pictures of the countryside

7. Realise your phone has ran out of battery

8. Become agitated and sit there being cross at everything

Or
You could repeatedly write out the lords prayer as the person next to me did. For FOUR HOURS.

At least i was returning to a loving
family and a full fridge......

.......
It was a return ticket right??
